About Meetings & The Commitee

General Meetings are held every three months at the Fire Shed and the Committee meets between those meetings. No major decisions are taken by the Committee unless a General Meeting is called. Members of the Committee are always willing to talk to residents about problems and as necessary take these to Council members or the State Government.

Residents of Duffys Forest are notified of the agenda of all General and Special Meetings of the Association before each meeting is held, by email, on the Terrey Hills Community Facebook page and the DFRA website.
There are several Subcommittees which deal with particular issues. Currently these include Subcommittees on Equine matters, Community Bridle Trail, Other trails, Weeds & natives, Conservation zones, Waratah Park.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Join the Association so that you can vote on issues. Individual membership is $25 per annum and household (2 people) membership is $50 per annum. All members must uphold the DFRA Constitution and membership is subject to approval.
Express opinions on issues. If you don’t know enough about particular issues, contact any member of the Committee who can inform and update you.
Take an active stand on matters. Don’t wait until there is a major external threat. A succession of minor problems can equally devalue your property and your lifestyle. Act now.

Why Join?

Duffys Forest is home to approximately 125 families and is one of the smallest suburbs in Sydney. A further 50 families live in rural Terrey Hills. Most residents choose to live here for the great lifestyle offered by living in a semi rural area surrounded by the Ku-ring-gai National Park and its beautiful waterways. Through the work of the DFRA , we strive to:
  • Maintain the country village atmosphere by holding community events.
  • Protect our beautiful bushland and waterways by raising awareness of invasive weeds that have a detrimental effect on the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.
  • Facilitate the control of invasive weed species by utilizing cash grants offered by various regulatory bodies.
  • Maintain and improve access to the surrounding bushland through trail development and maintenance.
  • Refurbish and build public horse facilities such as Anembo and Kinka Road horse arenas by obtaining and utilizing cash grants,
  • Support our local rural fire brigade with annual donations.
  • Maintain a mutually respectful relationship with the Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council through an ongoing bush regeneration project at Waratah Park. This project has engaged the wider community and currently attracts interest from well outside the area.
  • Maintain a residents database which can be used to alert residents in the case of emergency.
  • Liaise with Northern Beaches Council over possible developments that may affect the amenity of the area.
This work is only possible with the support of an active and interested community. Horse facilities, walking trails and weed free waterways benefit the whole community.
Membership fees are $50/year for Household membership (2 voting rights) and $25/year Individual Membership subject to approval. This small cost covers administration fees and public insurance, and ensures that the maximum money raised at our annual Christmas Party can be donated to support the Duffys Forest Rural Fire Brigade.

HOW YOU CAN KEEP DUFFYS FOREST PEACEFUL AND BEAUTIFUL?

Respond to the needs of your local environment. Get to know your neighbours and work together to understand the complex problems that confront urban communities. The bush fire emergencies show how an external threat can be mitigated by a sense of neighbourhood, communication and co-operation. To preserve and enhance the whole of Duffys Forest, development proposals that are sympathetic to the rural ambience of the suburb and the surrounding Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park are encouraged. DFRA works closely with Northern Beaches Council to safeguard Duffys Forest for future generations..
